PV's Photography

Welcome!

In April of 1963 my family was traveling by car across the United States to New York. My Dad was in the Navy and he had been transferred to London, England. We were on our way to New York to travel from New York to Southhampton, England on the SS United States, the largest cruise ship on the planet at the time.

We had stopped in the gift shop at the Grand Canyon where my Dad bought me my first camera. I can still see it in my mind, a Kodak, even though it has long since been lost. My journey in photography began then.

My Dad was really an inspiration to me as he took pictures, mostly slides, all the time with his Argus camera. In my mind's eye I still see that camera with the light brown leather case. He had the top of the case engraved. Oh how I wish I still had that camera and case but unfortunately they are gone too.

I really regret that I did not pursue photography consistently from that point. Moving to England, school, moving back to California, teen years, drag racing, marriage, kids and vocation all got in the way. I did shoot film in the mid-seventies but again I put it down after awhile for other reasons.

Two years ago I bought a digital camera for the first time. My life has been different ever since. If you take time to look at my "What's in the Bag?" page you will see that the Nikon D5000 is gone but it has been replaced with other Nikon bodies as well as a host of other gear. I love Nikon and digital photography!

I have always had an interest in nature so I naturally gravitated there for my pictures at first. I really enjoy taking pictures of God's creation. I even began a Facebook page to share my nature photographs. I am blessed on my PV's Photography Facebook page with over 2000 people who "like" my nature photography.

A few months ago I began my blog- Vic's Photo Blog. My goal is to use pictures and words to teach and encourage others. It is new, there are only a few posts so far, but there will be more to come.

Of course, I had to find somewhere to put the bulk of my nature photos. You can find them on my photo gallery website. You may view the photo gallery there and purchase individual pictures if you desire to do so. I have been working on adding more galleries. Currently there are 18 galleries on my site for you to explore. I hope you enjoy them!

Lately, I have also begun taking pictures of people, portraits and pets. To keep the nature and people photography pictures seperate I have begun a website and Facebook page to showcase them.
